I’m really excited to announce that this year Mito Merch have an agreement with the Australian Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (AMDF) to provide the official Bloody Long Walk singlets for the 2018 National Series.
Over 13,000 people are expected to complete the walks across the country this year. The event raises over $1.6 million for the AMDF.
All profits from the sales of the Bloody Long Walk singlets will be provided to the AMDF.
As someone who suffers from mitochondrial disease, I’m pleased that I’m well enough to do my part to help raise money and awareness.
Mitochondrial disease (mito) is a debilitating illness, it can affect any organ, at any age. So most children and adults with it, can’t do the walk itself. I’m lucky enough that I can still work and exercise with having a milder form of the disease. But my muscles work harder than they’re meant to, as I’ve got mitochondrial myopathy (diseased muscles) so 35km is just not something I can do.
So if you’re someone completing the Bloody Long Walk, thank you.
Thank you for training, for taking the time to raise money and awareness of mitochondrial disease. All the money you raise helps fund support for people with mito, medical trails to improve diagnosis (which I’m lucky enough to be taking part in) and important research to find treatments and a cure for mito.
And if you’ve also purchased a Bloody Long Walk singlet from us – thank you for your support!
